Men and women, the majority of the time, instinctively sense wherein the orientation lays. Gays, unlike the religious whacks and other ultraconservatives, aren't interested in trying to get people to 'convert' for their personal gain. There are bigger problems in the military to worry over than this. How many reports have you heard of a ‘gay’ pursuing a ’straight’ to the point of harassment or worse?
